It is commonly assumed… and quite rightly, that Minecraft villagers are defenseless idiots. In vanilla Minecraft, this is mitigated somewhat with the addition of Iron golems, which are slightly less idiotic and far from defenseless. In fact, they are defenseful. Very defenseful… if there is such a word. But they work for the villagers and not you. What if you could have the intelligence of the iron golem… but even better… with the martial prowess of the iron golem… but even better… and a whole handful of them besides… AND they did exactly what you tell them to do. All the time. Fantasy? Fiction? Nope. It is the Villager Recruits mod which allows you to recruit and control your own standing army and changes combat in Minecraft to something more akin to a real-time strategy game.
A deep dive is probably closer to a tutorial video than a showcase video… but it has elements of both while not exactly being either. These are more like explanations of what is possible with each mod and are really intended to help you figure out what a mod does… or does not do… and whether it would be a good fit for your game.
I also want to point out that these videos will be directed from the point of view of PC users using a keyboard and mouse and otherwise running with default settings. If you running on a Mac or console, or use a gamepad on the PC some of the control options and elements will undoubtedly be different, but the functionality demonstrated should still be valid.

I strongly encourage you to go download the mod and try it for yourself. If you like it, please reach out to the mod owner and let them know. It is always good for mod authors to hear that all their efforts are appreciated and enjoyed and used. It keeps them going and of course, that means more great mods to choose from in the future. As noted in the video, this mod was written by Talhanation, the author of the Small Ships mod and there are specific integrations between the two mods. You can find out more about the Small Ships mod through my video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A79GrrDsgJ4

Ever since I watched The Sting as a child, I have loved Ragtime music. However, I am not a musician, composer, or even a particularly knowledgeable fan of music. I enjoy what I enjoy and that includes many different genres of music. However, Ragtime is the soundtrack for the era I am simulating and this may the first time that modern listeners may be exposed to it. So I am including a general Ragtime link.
