More Information
  • I mentioned that the known world was about the size of a community college.  If you are from outside the US, you might want to learn about community colleges here
  • When talking about coal, I mentioned using a hibachi… you can find out more about hibachis here
  • While talking about hibachis, I also mentioned charcoal briquettes
  • At some point I was talking about an imaginary superhero scale… with Superman one end of the scale and Clark Kent on the other… and Jimmy Olsen well below that.
  • In case you have not seen (or don’t remember) the movie Forest Gump, here is the scene I was talking about when I mentioned Bubba.
  • Even as I was digging up some coal, I was talking about the Create Ore Excavation mod.
  • At about the same time, I used the term “mother lode” and I am not quite sure how many folks know the term.
  • I mentioned Emmer Wheat in the game world… it is a real thing in the real world as well.
  • If you never played the Marco Polo game… then you might want to read up on it.
  • Salmonberries are a thing in real life too.
  • In the village, I said that it looked like the villagers were wearing disguises.  These are what I was talking about.
  • When I found the first village, I saw that the had many vats and that most of them were filled with potions… and at that point, I wondered allowed if I had discovered the Minecraft version of Breaking Bad.
  • If you are not familiar with tie-dye t-shirts, this is what I was referring to.
  • After defeating the zombie, I started a quote about… “if you can’t stand the heat…”.  The full and original quote is, “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen“.
  • I mentioned Kodak moments.  If you don’t have gray hair, you might not know that I am referring to this.
  • I said that hamsters run on hamster wheels… and ferrets run on ferret’s wheels… but there is no such thing.  I was actually joking about this.
  • I made a joke about Tower Records. I had no idea that it is back.
  • Shortly afterward, I mentioned the Austin Powers movies and made a joke about a beehive… but it was really a play on this.
  • Mike Meyers played Austin Powers… and Shrek as well.
  • If you heard me refer to Spidey Sense and did not understand what I was talking about… go here for more information.
  • This is the proper form of the song I sang while first rowing the boat away from the shore.

  • Ghost Peppers are a thing in real life.
  • I mentioned how much I love Seafood Boils
  • You may have been puzzled when I said, “Negative, Ghost Rider.  The pattern is full.”  Now you aren’t.
Music

Ever since I watched The Sting as a child, I have loved Ragtime music. However, I am not a musician, composer, or even a particularly knowledgeable fan of music. I enjoy what I enjoy and that includes many different genres of music. However, Ragtime is the soundtrack for the era I am simulating and this may the first time that modern listeners may be exposed to it. So I am including some general Ragtime links and whatever information I can find on the particular tracks I used in this episode.
