It’s obviously possible to play Minecraft without ever stepping foot into the Nether. However, it is impossible to complete the game or create more advanced materials, blocks, or items without spending a considerable amount of time in the Nether. There are things there that simply cannot be found anywhere else.

Unfortunately, the Nether has a reputation for being a particularly dangerous and hostile place and the reputation is completely justified. And while all of that is certainly true for vanilla Minecraft, the situation can be as bad or even worse with modded Minecraft.

Therefore, it is important to take precautions before spending much time in the Nether, and that means setting up some kind of safe haven around the portal and for me, that would serve as the beginnings of a network extending throughout the Nether from which I can gather needed resources and other materials with relative safety and convenience.

Below is the list of mods that I have enabled for this world. All of them are available on Forge. That’s where I got them. I will be running this world with my preferred resource pack as well: Lithos HD/32 (also available on Forge). I have also begun to create my own personal resource pack that fills in the gaps from Lithos. This new resource pack is not publicly available.

Ever since I watched The Sting as a child, I have loved Ragtime music. However, I am not a musician, composer, or even a particularly knowledgeable fan of music. I enjoy what I enjoy and that includes many different genres of music. However, Ragtime choice for a background track that is generally upbeat and positive. It helps keep the tone light and fun for projects like this.

Music was obtained from RagsRag.com, a site run by Ragnar Hellspong of Krusenberg, Sweden. He has spent considerable time collecting Ragtime resources and has graciously made them freely available on his site. Please take a look.
