At the start of the video, I said something about gorillas riding horses and carrying rifles. Of course, I am talking about the first part of the original Planet of the Apes movie from 1968.
After reaching the surface, I stopped to take a picture and I referred to it as a Kodak moment.
Once I bred the first pair of cows, I said, “Excellent“… but in the fashion of Mr. Burns from the Simpsons.
“Having a Cow” is an idiom in English.
“I Yam What I Yam” is a phrase from the old Popeye theatrical cartoons from the 1930’s.
Late in the video, I joked while picking potatoes that “This spud’s for you”. Spud is another name for potato and the joke was an homage to the old advertising campaign for Budweiser Beer from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
I compared my own efforts to reclaim land in my little lake to the amazing efforts of the Netherlands and their success in reclaiming land from the sea.
